A fabulous pair of antique English, solid 18 carat gold (tests thereabouts, chains and wires lower carat) long drop earrings; the lower sections beautifully modelled as snakes, set with tiny turquoise cabochons and the heads and waved chain connectors set with glistening rose-cut diamonds. The tops and later wires are set with sparkling white diamonds and larger turquoise cabochons.
Such an eye catching, fine quality & stunningly beautiful pair...so collectible & wearable too!
CONDITION: Generally very good. Probably adapted from a larger piece in antiquity. Will probably have had lower drops, evidence of fittings could probably do with filing flush for wear (a very simple job). Slightest signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Disparity to turquoise colours natural and perfectly normal.
DATE/MARKS: Mid 19th Century, adapted later. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: Just under 4 ½ inches long overall, diamonds to snakes approx. 4.4 x 3.5 mm, diamonds to tops approx. 3.5 mm diameter (1 inch = 25.4 mm).
