











A pair of early antique solid gold earrings, modelled as galleons, with gold wire masts & rigging, vitreous enamel decoration and baroque pearl highlights & drops.
The rigging is remarkably similar in appearance and construction to the galleon jewel in the Cheapside Hoard.
Quite an amazing and exceptionally rare pair of earrings...immensely collectible & still wearable too!
CONDITION: Expected signs of wear, denting & loss commensurate with age and use - please see pictures. Lower carat wires old replacements. Gold orbs & some pearls old additions/replacements. Generally, they have been 'played with' over the years.
DATE/MARKS: Probably 16/17th Century with later additions/alterations. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: Faces 34 x 28 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm).
WEIGHT: Approx. 8.2 grams.
