EARLY ANTIQUE SPANISH / PORTUGUESE SILVER ROSE CUT DIAMOND FLOWER EARRINGS c1780
A pair of antique, probably Spanish or Portuguese, solid silver drop earrings; with pierced bodies, floral decoration and set with lovely foiled rose-cut diamonds.
A beautiful, distinctive and highly wearable pair of early earrings!
CONDITION: Probably adapted from larger pieces in antiquity, wires old replacements. Signs of wear & tarnish commensurate with age, some discoloration to foils - see pictures. Need a clean and polish.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1780, possibly earlier. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: Bodies around 18 x 17 mm, total drop around 26 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 4.8 grams together.
