UNUSUAL ANTIQUE GEORGIAN 15K GOLD CARVED CORAL CHAINED DANCING BEAR FOB c1820
An antique natural dark orange coral fob, with 15 carat gold (tests thereabouts) fittings, and finely hand carved as a standing / dancing bear, with tiny diamond 'eyes' and tethered to coral tree stump with a gold chain, with a further gold chain connector. Set with a polished agate seal to its base, engraved with the initials 'EL' in reverse.
An unusual and extremely high quality fob...most distinctive, very collectable & so wearable too!
CONDITION: All original and very good. Slightest signs of detail wear and some small nicks to coral commensurate with age and use. Nick to one diamond eye. Seal perfect. Chains old replacements.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1820. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: 39 mm tall, base 20 x 14 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 14.2 grams.
