SCARCE ANTIQUE CHELSEA / ST JAMES GOUYN PORCELAIN DOG FOB w/ CUPID SEAL c1750
An antique English, Chelsea / St. James porcelain (in all probability made by Charles Gouyn) fob; beautifully modelled as a dog, with hand painted decoration, and a bloodstone seal base engraved with Cupid above two lovebirds, and the motto 'Rein De Si Doux' (Nothing So Sweet) in reverse.
Such a scarce little seal...immensely collectible!
CONDITION: Some signs of detail wear & glaze loss commensurate with age and use. - please examine pictures.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1750/60. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: 21 mm long, seal 15 x 14 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 3.3 grams.
