ANTIQUE ENGLISH 15K GOLD DIAMOND OBELISK SEPIA MINIATURE MOURNING RING c1790
An antique 15 carat gold (tests thereabouts) mourning ring, set with a row of tiny old cut diamonds around a glass locket holding a finely hand painted sepia miniature of an obelisk tombstone, incorporating tiny hair snippets within the surrounding trees.
A wonderful quality Georgian mourning ring...immensely collectible & so wearable too!
CONDITION: Generally very good. Slight signs of wear to glass & bezel commensurate with age and use. Sepia a little sunken under glass. One or two minuscule nicks to diamonds, not noticeable without a glass. Old sizing to shank, of no consequence.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1780/90. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: Locket approx. 16 x 12 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
RING SIZE: O or 7 ½ US (easily sized within reason).
WEIGHT: Approx. 4.2 grams.
