ANTIQUE GEORGIAN ENGLISH 18K GOLD PEARL ENAMEL MOURNING RING c1802 GEORGE WAWN
An antique English, solid 18 carat gold (tests thereabouts) mourning ring; finely made, with a pearl border around a glass locket holding an old hair memento, and the shank reading 'George Wawn OB: 28 Feb 1802 Æ: 33' with black enamelling. George Wawn is believed to be an ancestor of George Twizell Wawn, a "founding father of football (Soccer)" (one of the eight men who drafted the original 13 laws of association football in 1863).
A lovely quality mourning ring...so collectible & very wearable!
CONDITION: Very good. Slight signs of wear commensurate with age and use.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1802. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: Head 12 x 10 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
