ANTIQUE ENGLISH 18K GOLD & SEED PEARL PANSY LOCKET MOURNING BROOCH c1840
An antique English, solid 18 carat gold (tests thereabouts) mourning brooch; beautifully modelled as a pansy flower, with hand engraved decoration, a tiny pearl to the centre, and set with two tiny glass locket 'petals' holding hair mementos.
A very pretty & unusual early Victorian mourning brooch...so collectable & wearable too!
CONDITION: All original and very good. Slight signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Split to one stem, of no consequence. Pearl possibly reset, some faint adhesive just visible.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1830/40. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: 20 x 19 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 2.6 grams.
