ANTIQUE ENGLISH GOLD MOURNING LOCKET WATCH KEY & SPLIT RING c1850
An antique English heavily gold filled watch key and mourning locket, with chased decoration and the glass holding an old plume hair memento and engraved 'Mary Moffat Hall born 26 July 1848 died 24 Sep(tember) 1849' the back around a worn forget me not motif. Hung on a 15 carat gold (tests thereabouts) split ring.
Lovely quality, so collectible & very wearable!
CONDITION: All original and very good. Slight signs of detail wear & enamel loss commensurate with age and use.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1840's. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: Locket 19 mm diameter, key 29 mm long, split ring 18 mm diameter (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 8.4 grams.
