ANTIQUE GEORGIAN 15K GOLD SEPIA MINIATURE / HAIR WORK CLASP AMERICAN ? c1780
An absolutely superb quality antique Georgian-period, solid 15 carat gold (tests thereabouts) locket clasp; retaining a stunningly executed hand painted sepia miniature, incorporating miniscule hair snippets, to depict a probably colonial (American?) scene involving a sailing ship in a small harbour, with three canoe type boats, a skyline with hills topped with a windmill to the background and houses to the shores, making for a very well-detailed, balanced and pleasing image.
A top quality and unusually fine, very distinctive and fabulously collectable Georgian clasp!
