ANTIQUE GEORGIAN SEED PEARL BRACELET w/ GOLD HAIR MINIATURE MOURNING CLASP c1780
An antique solid 18 carat gold (tests thereabouts) mourning clasp, with a glass holding a finely hand crafted hair snippet miniature, depicting a couple beneath a tree, with a crumbling church (or similar) in the background. Strung with eight-strands of seed pearls on fine thread for wear as a bracelet.
A wonderful quality example...very sought after & extremely collectable!
CONDITION: Generally very good. Slight signs of wear commensurate with age and use. A few nicks to pearls, some possible old repairs to threads. Some denting to clasp, not readily noticeable. A few tiny nicks to glass, some fading to miniature - please see pictures.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1780, pearls later. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: 7 ½ inches long, clasp 31 x 27 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 18.7 grams.
