LOVELY ANTIQUE GEORGIAN ENGLISH 9K GOLD SEPIA MOURNING MINIATURE LOCKET c1790
An antique English 9 carat gold (tests thereabouts) navette-shaped locket, with a glass holding a finely hand painted sepia mourning miniature, showing a lady under a weeping willow next to an urn topped plinth reading 'RP'. The back inscribed 'EC'.
Such a beautiful image...very collectible & so wearable!
CONDITION: Generally very good. Originally a brooch, converted in antiquity. Slight signs of wear commensurate with age and use. A few minor scratches to glass. Some denting to back and top ring an old addition..
DATE/MARKS: Around 1780/90. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: 38 x 20 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 4.5 grams.
