SET of 3 ANTIQUE ENGLISH GEORGIAN 15K GOLD BLACK ENAMEL MOURNING BROOCHES c1816
A collection of three antique English solid 15 carat gold (tests thereabouts) mourning brooches; finely made, each with black vitreous enamelling and hand chased bezels around glass locket holding woven hair mementos, and each inscribed to the back 'John Coulthurst, Ob. 3 May 1816, æt. 55'.
Terrific quality, totally original and very unusual to find a matching collection!
CONDITION: All original and very, very good. Slightest signs of wear commensurate with age and use, will clean up beautifully.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1816. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: Pins 24 x 20 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 20.2 grams all together.
