ANTIQUE GEORGIAN PERIOD VAUXHALL GLASS SEPIA MINIATURE LOCKET PENDANT c1790
An antique pinchbeck-type gilt yellow metal pendant; with faceted golden orange Vauxhall glass 'jewels' surrounding a glass locket, with a verre églomisé border and holding a finely hand painted polychrome and sepia miniature, beautifully depicting a maiden holding flowers, and with a currently empty glass locket to the back, hinging open for easy access inside.
A fabulous Georgian period miniature pendant...so collectable!
CONDITION: All original and generally good. Some gilding wear to mount commensurate with age & use. Some loss to enamel and nicks to glass surround - see pictures. Hinge & closure good, chip to inner glass back.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1790/1800. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: 45 x 36 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 17.6 grams.
