Antique Carved Hardstone Blackamoor Fob

An antique hardstone agate fob, finely hand carved to depict a female blackamoor with bared breasts, with solid 14 carat gold (test therabouts)fittings, and an intaglio agate seal base engraved with a classical scholar / philosopher in profile.

Extremely scarce & immensely collectable!

CONDITION: Some signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Hardstone body loose and rotates slightly, perfectly secure and easily repaired if desired. Small chip around top of head, bail possibly an old replacement - please examine pictures for overall condition.

DATE/MARKS: Around 1740/60. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS: 34 mm tall, base 16 x 13 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). 

WEIGHT: Approx. 4.6 grams.
