A rare antique English, solid sterling silver snuff box; finely made, with a gently curved design, a gilded interior and engraved with stylized hieroglyphs around a sphinx motif. Probably made to commemorate Nelson's death in 1805, inspired by his Egyptian campaigns including the Battle of The Nile. An almost identical example is housed in the Philadelphia Museum of Arts.
