ANTIQUE FRENCH LIMOGES ENAMEL PANEL of LE CHRIST BENISSANT NOTRE DAME PARIS
An antique French, slightly convex hand painted Limoges en grisaille enamel with gold highlights panel on copper, beautifully depicting a statue of 'Le Christ Benissant' (The Benevolent Christ) found in La Cathedrale De Reims (known as Notre Dame in Paris). In its original carved wooden frame with leather back and integrated strut.
CONDITION: All original and very good. Slightest signs of wear commensurate with age & use - see pictures.
DATE/MARKS: Early 20th Century. Signed with monogram 'EC'. Paris retailer's name on frame strut.
DIMENSIONS: 7 x 5 ½ overall, panel 5 x 4 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 189 grams.
