ANTIQUE PINCHBECK MICROMOSAIC BROOCH TREVI FOUNTAIN ROME c1840
An antique micromosaic, finely hand crafted to depict the Trevi Fountain, Rome, and set with a polished black glass surround in a gilt yellow metal mount for wear as a brooch.
An unusual subject, decorative and extremely collectable!
CONDITION: Some signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Cracks visible to glass surround, some raising and very slight loss to tesserae - please examine pictures. Mother of pearl panels to back old additions to secure mosaic.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1840/50. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: 52 x 42 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 26.0 grams.
